In Southern Africa, we were startled to find that there are many children were in hiding. These children have no adult in the home and are led by the eldest child. 

 The Eldest Child will therefore try and support the family by the following means:

The Eldest Boy will go into crime robbery of any kind and of course be arrested and the family will be left in further distress.

If the Eldest is a Girl, she will go into prostitution or get pregnant as soon as possible.  When she is pregnant she will apply for the tiny Government grant. This however has to be collect in person so if she is ill or has AIDS she will not be able to receive the money.
